The article deals with the issues of coordination of state policy in the field of ecology. To reveal the directions of the state environmental policy of the Russian Federation, various levels were considered: supranational; federal; regional; local; court decisions and corporate. The integrated development of corporations in the environmental and social direction within the framework of the concept of sustainable development will contribute to environmental safety, the formation of a favorable environment in the team and a positive image of the enterprise.

   The article considers the construction of a system of interrelation of the most important regional indicators based on the analysis of socio-economic models of regions. In the course of the study, the main characteristics of the economic security of meso-level entities without large urban agglomerations were systematized, the most important social and economic indicators were identified, a comparative assessment of the economic security of the Republic of Kalmykia was given according to the proposed indicators for 1999-2008 and 2009-2018, the models of economic security of meso-level entities that exist today are considered in detail. A cognitive model of the influence of investment factors on the main socio-economic indicators is constructed and expressions of their interrelation are obtained to assess the development of economic security of meso-level entities without large urban agglomerations.

   The state of tourism in Russia is directly related to social, migration and ethnocultural factors both in the country and in its regions. In recent years, the tourism industry has changed especially in the context of the spread of coronavirus infection. Unfortunately, due to the increased epidemiological tension in the country and the world over the past two years, the tourism industry has suffered huge losses by changing the rules for the provision of tourist services. In his address, dated May 7, 2020, President of the Russian Federation V. V. Putin supported the development of domestic tourism. According to him, with the help of all these directions it is possible to form attractive routes, open new directions in the country, where it will be convenient to get to and have an interesting time (Tass Press Center).One of the most attractive Russian regions for the development of domestic tourism is the Republic of Kalmykia, which is one of the ten most promising regions for tourism. It was noted that the pandemic caused serious damage to tourism both at the level of the country and the republic. The current state of tourism in the regional context is assessed, taking into account new restrictions and problems, and the main problems of the development of the tourism industry are identified. The authors reviewed the current federal and regional programs and projects aimed at the development of tourism. It is shown that despite the presence of serious infrastructural problems, there is a good prospect for the development of tourism in the Republic of Kalmykia, primarily through the inclusion of attractive tourist resources in the tourist turnover. The conclusion is made about the possibilities and prospects for the development of the tourism industry in the region.

   The article is devoted to the most urgent problem of today as a labor situation at the level of regional subjects of our country. The labor market is going through difficult times because production capacity is steadily declining, which creates a large burden on the population, entailing large-scale barriers to the labor market. The labor market and its actual situation influence the economic development of the region and the country. A distinctive feature of the labor market in our country is its division relative to the regions of Russia, determined by the territorial and geopolitical differences of a certain subject of the Federation, the degree of employment and unemployment, and the socio-economic situation.

   The article considers the ratio of the growth rates of labor productivity and wages in dynamics for the period 2002-2021 in the Russian Federation. The work is based on the use of such statistical research methods as: tabular and graphical method, absolute and relative values, analysis of indicators of the dynamic’s series. The article is written on the database of the Federal State Statistics Service. Increasing labor productivity is one of the national goals of the Russian Federation, reflected in the corresponding national project – «Labor productivity and employment support». It was found that in 2002-2021, the economy as a whole experienced unidirectional change in accrued wages and labor productivity (except for 2009, 2015, 2020); at the same time, accrued wages grew at a higher rate than labor productivity (this may be due to the fact that the analysis is conducted on a nominal wage indicator).

   A large number of regions in Russia, the uniqueness of their economic and geographical position, differences in the level of involvement in national “trajectories of development” and the system of division of labor, as well as the individuality of their complexities - all this implies an in-depth identification of territorial subjects, a systematic review of their belonging to specific typological groups.

   The purpose of the study is to determine the essence, features of identification signs of depressed regions, differentiation of approaches to the improvement of their socio-economic sphere. In the process of research, traditional methods were used: monographic, graphic, systematic, comparative-analytical.

   The paper summarizes the conceptual theories of identification and definition of problematic subjects, the typological category of regions, and forms a distinctive characteristic of their differentiated types. The results may provide an opportunity to develop a theoretical and model archetype of a problem region, a depressive subject. Taking into account the structuring of the identified approaches to its development, it is possible to determine the nature of the application of the instruments of regional socio-economic policy in areas with a depressed economic environment.
